11And now I am no more in the world, but these are in theworld, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are…
12While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled…

This is the Oneness of God. It won’t matter if a person gets baptized a thousand times if they don’t know who God is and they aren’t baptized according to the Truth then they do not have their sins remitted, washed away. Jesus said that a person must believe in Him before they can become baptized. He that doesn’t believe will be damned.
1 Timothy 3:16
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
Mark 16:16
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
So to be baptized in the name of Jesus fulfills, and does not contradict, Matthew 28. When we study the whole Truth, we see that there is no contradiction and that everything is in order and makes sense. God commands that we must be saved in the name of Jesus for the remission of our sins.
Luke 24
46And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
47And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
